"I was afraid to see a financial planner, but I felt comfortable at WECO. Now I know how important it is to save and plan, regardless of your income or education. I learned so much, and I'm beginning to feel more secure about my future."
Betty Ramble, Financial Planning Program Participant
Personal financial success and independence are entirely possible, even for those who earn a modest income. By choosing to budget, save and invest, individuals can pay off debt, send children to college, buy a comfortable home, start a business, save for retirement, put money away for a rainy day and ensure a financially stable base for children and grandchildren.
Building wealth requires having the right information, following a solid plan and making good choices. The secret is based on time honored traditions: budget to save, save and invest and control debt. By investing, money saved goes to work making more money and increasing wealth. Participants who stay involved in the program for at least a year or more are especially successful.
WECO offers other services that eliminate barriers and help individuals and families build assets, such as Individual Development Accounts (matched savings accounts for the purchase of a home, start of small business, or education or job training), and microloans for small business startup or expansion.
WECO works in partnership with many businesses and community organizations to advance financial stability for individuals and families in Cuyahoga County. These include Cleveland Saves, KeyBank Financial Education Center, Consumer Credit Counseling Service, Faith United Community Credit Union, Ameriprise, Third Federal Savings and Loan, Ohio Savings Bank, National City Bank and KeyBank.
